~ National Capital Kart Club at SLMP September 27-28 ~
NCKC's end-of-the-season event at SLMP is expected to be another great, well-attended affair that should showcase the club's best classes and drivers. This will be their final event in the U.S. for the 2008 season. Though the forecast is for a chance of rainy weather - as has been the case most weekends this summer- the crews and fans of NCKC always make the best of every situation and give every race their absolute best effort.
We appreciate NCKC and their hearty approval of our track, and hope their last 2008 weekend with us will be memorable and as exciting as always! Best of luck to all our NCKC friends- be safe and run hard!

Racing Report for Saturday, September 13
~ September Oval Contests Bring Winners ~
Last Sat. Sept. 13 was the first oval racing held at SMLP. Kart count wasn't as good as I would have liked to see but everyone that was there had a great time. Not one person raised their voice or even looked mad at anyone.

We had 12 karts show up which had me a little bummed out. But everyone said they had a great time and planned on coming back. If there was one thing that surprised me was the real soft tires showing wear. Probably the best choice would be a 33. A couple of teams ran 22 and they showed a little more wear than I've seen peviously. I sweep the track extra good, and I think that took all the rubber off the track and made a better grip but maybe a little more abrasive.

We are going to race again this Saturday, September 20 at 1:00. Gates will open at 10:00 with hot laps at 11. I know of about 4-6 more karts that are suppose to come. Like a couple guys said, they don't have to go home and clean the kart and trailer from the dirt. I know asphalt racing is not for everyone. Not everyone likes lobster or broccoli either, but if you don't try it you don't know if you might not like it. We were all done and had people on their way home by 4:00. We took a 20 minute break between heats to give racers a little extra time to prepare. If we had a few more karts we could have just running heats and everyone would have had time.

Here are the results from last week's races. After this Saturday I will make a decision whether we will continue with the Saturday racing. If we get racers we'll run right up until the end of October. Hope to see more here this week!
